Anyone who has a desire to succeed and find peace and happiness has learned how to curb their appetite for the moment. They've learned self-mastery. On your way to accomplishing your goals and dreams, you will have to give some things up for the moment.
Here's an easy self-mastery exercise to get you started on mastering yourself by curbing those appetites.
Every time you feel a craving for something, whether that be for food like take-out, chips etc. or drinks like pop, coffee, beer, etc. Simply embrace the feeling and make a goal to conquer it for the moment. Instead of going straight out to get what you're craving, hold it off for a bit longer.
This doesn't mean you are going to stop the craving or that you intent to stop the habit. But rather, you are showing yourself that your craving or urge is not your master. That you have the ability to control your urges and therefore are in control of your life.
Every time you allow your craving to overcome you, it has mastered you, in other words, it has become your master. It rules that area of your life. In order for you to take control, you will simply need to embrace the feeling, or in other words, accept that you have those feelings and conquer it in the moment by waiting just a little bit longer, not because you have to, but because you want to.
Try it out and notice how good you will feel for your little victory!
